We are pleased to announce that Lillian MacNamara, our former Assistant Brewer, has been promoted to Head Brewer of Queen City Brewery. Lillian started with us in 2014 after nearly a decade of experience in the craft brewing community, including brewer positions with Hop’n Moose Brewing Company, Magic Hat Brewing Company, Otter Creek Brewing Company, and Oregon Trail Brewery.
As Head Brewer, Lillian will be responsible for all aspects of production and packaging of Queen City’s broad array of European-style ales and lagers, as well as developing further our “Pint Street Barrel Project” series of barrel-aged specialty beers. She has already been working on some new recipes – her Saison is now aging in wine barrels!
Lillian has been instrumental in the early success of Queen City Brewery, and we are confident that her continued dedication and leadership will allow us to grow while maintaining our commitment to producing top-quality classic beer styles as accurately as possible.
It’s hard to believe that it has been two years since Queen City Brewery opened (with over 2,000 barrels produced and 30,000 sample flights served). Please join us here at our “Pint Street” tasting room on June 17th and 18th to help us celebrate. We will have 14 classic European beers on tap, including two brand new offerings: Queen City Vienna Lager and “Basic Ale,” our traditional dry-hopped English Bitter.
Specials include $3 pints of our City Beer, as well as $2 off all growler fills and 22 oz. bombers. And a few surprises…
This Friday, March 4th, brings a new beer to the QCB lineup. Old Monty is an English-style Barleywine made from a double-mash of four British malts and generous additions of East Kent Goldings hops. Fermentation with a classic English strong ale yeast has produced intriguing stone fruit and madeira notes, and aging in oak Chardonnay barrels has created a truly satisfying sipping ale.
Sophisticated, like the old gent himself!
It looks like winter is finally here! Join us at the brewery this weekend for the release of our latest seasonal offering: Winter’s Bock. This “winter warmer” is a smooth, copper lager produced from the finest German malts. Modeled after the classic celebration beers of Bavaria, Winter’s Bock has a gentle, understated hop character that just balances its distinctive toasted malt profile. (ABV 7.0% IBU 28)
Have you checked out Queen City Brewery’s bottle offerings at your local store? We now have nine of our European-inspired ales and lagers available: Landlady ESB, Yorkshire Porter, Gregarious Scotch Ale, Barge Canal Oatmeal Extra Stout, Munich Dunkel, South End Lager (German Helles), Hefeweizen, Rauchbier (Smoked Amber Lager), and our classic Steinbier. They are also available at the brewery – stop by for a taste!
Join us Halloween weekend for the release of our new seasonal beer, Queen City Dunkelweizen. This dark wheat beer has many of the characteristics of our popular Hefeweizen, such as its creamy, long-lasting head, and yeast-derived banana and clove notes in both the aroma and flavor. The addition of several dark malts provides pleasant toasty and chocolate-like notes (ABV 5.8%, IBU 25). Click here to view our Facebook event page.
